The Economic Institute, together with the Consumer Agency, has been tasked by the government to monitor and analyze the effects of the temporary VAT reduction on food that will come into effect on April 1, 2026. Over the coming years, a prioritized task will therefore be to analyze the impact of the VAT reduction on food prices.
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for one or two employees primarily to analyze the effects of the VAT reduction on food prices. The position involves data management, conducting econometric analyses, and report writing. The work also includes ongoing contact and collaboration with other authorities, such as the Consumer Agency, the Competition Authority, and Statistics Sweden. Depending on the form of employment, tasks within the unit's other areas of responsibility may also be included.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who:
- has a PhD in economics or statistics, or is in the final stages of their doctoral education in these fields,
- has good analytical skills and a strong interest in social economics and policy issues,
- has experience in econometric analysis,
- has good programming skills with E-views, STATA, or equivalent software,
- is meticulous, driven, responsible, and works well in collaboration with others, and
- is a good writer and can express themselves clearly and pedagogically in speech and writing in Swedish or English.
Experience with relevant econometric methods, such as difference-in-difference regression or regression discontinuity design, as well as evaluation and investigation work, is an advantage.

The position is a fixed-term employment. The form of employment is either a special fixed-term employment (SÄVA) for 12 months or a state fixed-term employment (STAVA) for 24 months.
